Bosomtwe has also been prohibited from entering the health facility for the next 12 months as part of the ruling delivered on Tuesday, June 9. He was further required to sign a bond of good behaviour.
Reacting to the judgment, Deputy National Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA), Philemon Gyapong, said the association had expected a harsher sentence to discourage similar acts against healthcare workers, but nonetheless respects the court’s decision.
According to the PRO, the association is pleased with the swift manner the judiciary acted on the mat
The incident occurred on June 2, 2026, when Senior Staff Midwife Priscilla Addo, who was on duty, informed visitors that official visiting hours had ended and asked them to leave the ward in accordance with hospital regulations aimed at ensuring a peaceful recovery environment for patients.
According to reports, Bosomtwe, who was visiting a relative receiving treatment at the facility, refused to comply with the directive. The disagreement escalated into a confrontation, during which he allegedly assaulted the midwife. The incident was captured on video and later circulated widely.
