Within the above questions of reasoning are the four main stakeholders whose positions and roles together, make for either an effective primary healthcare or one that is less-effective and disorganized. The four stakeholders are; the citizens (clients), the healthcare team (this includes physicians, nurses, other allied health personnel and individual clients/relatives), the health institutions and the government.

WHAT IS PREVENTIVE/PRIMARY HEALHCARE?

Primary Health Care is a whole-society approach to health that aims at ensuring the highest possible level of health and well-being and their equitable distribution by focusing on people’s needs and as early as possible along the continuum from health promotion and disease prevention to treatment, rehabilitation and palliative care, and as close as feasible to people’s everyday environment

IMPORTANCE OF AN EFFECTIVELY IMPLEMENTED PRIMARY HEALTHCARE SYSTEM

On this note, I appeal to the relevant authorities in charge of national healthcare, stakeholders (including the general public), opinion leaders, healthcare professionals and the media to bring into focus, broader discussions on this important subject, especially primary healthcare. The four main levels of healthcare, the individual patient, the care team, the organization/institutions and political environment (Ferlie and Shortel (2001) must be empowered to work and synchronize their respective roles in order to achieve more effective and efficient healthcare system in the country.

REPLICATION OF CHPS ZONE SYSTEM IN CITIES/URBAN AREAS IN GHANA
