According to a statement issued by the Public Affairs Unit of the Ashanti Regional Police Command and signed by ASP Augustine Antwi, the arrest followed reports that the teacher had assaulted an 18-year-old student, Patience Chibu.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Mr. Apaflo, who serves as a caretaker of the school's hostel, confronted the student and several male students over alleged misconduct within the hostel premises. During the interaction, a misunderstanding reportedly occurred, leading to the alleged assault of the female student.

The incident reportedly sparked anger among some students, who allegedly threw stones at the suspect. Some students are also said to have invited youth from the Nyinahin community to the school hostel in an attempt to attack him.

However, the situation was swiftly brought under control through the intervention of a police patrol team, preventing further escalation.

Police have since issued a Medical Report Form to the victim to facilitate medical examination and treatment. Meanwhile, the suspect remains in police custody and is assisting investigators with ongoing inquiries into the matter.

The Police Command has urged the public to remain calm and resort to lawful and peaceful means when addressing grievances and disputes.
