Management of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital has suspended two doctors and two nurses after they were accused of refusing to treat a road accident victim who later died.

The hospital announced the decision in a statement released on Monday, February 23, 2026 on its official Facebook page, following public anger over reports that the victim was turned away even though he was in critical condition.
According to the hospital, the four staff members have been temporarily removed from duty while investigations are ongoing. Management has set up a committee to fully investigate what happened and to find out whether emergency treatment rules were ignored. All staff involved have been asked to cooperate to ensure a fair and transparent process.
The victim, 29-year-old Charles Amissah, was an engineer with Promasidor Ghana Limited. He suffered serious shoulder injuries in a hit-and-run accident at the Circle Overpass on February 6, 2026.
Emergency medical services stabilised him and tried to transfer him to a hospital for further care. However, reports say he could not get a bed at the Police Hospital, Ridge Hospital, or Korle Bu. While at Korle Bu, he reportedly suffered cardiac arrest.
Although doctors attempted to revive him using CPR, the efforts failed, and he was later confirmed dead.
