This incident comes on the heels of a recently reported case of baby theft at another healthcare facility in the Greater Accra Region.
In a statement issued on February 20, 2026, the hospital said the incident occurred on February 18 at about 7:28 p.m. at the Labour Ward. The officer was allegedly attacked by an 18-year-old man, Gabriel Dimson, who had visited the hospital with his mother and another individual.
According to the hospital, the security officer instructed the suspect to move to the reception area because hospital regulations prohibit visitors from standing at the entrance of the ward outside approved visiting hours. The suspect reportedly refused to comply, pushed the officer to the ground, and assaulted him.
The officer lost consciousness during the incident and was immediately treated by medical staff on duty. He remains admitted and is said to be responding to treatment.

The case was reported to the Ghana Police Service at the Adabraka District Police Command. The suspect has since been arrested, and investigations are ongoing to enable prosecution.
Hospital management strongly condemned the attack, stating that violence against staff will not be tolerated. They emphasized the important role security personnel play in enforcing hospital policies that protect patients, visitors, and healthcare workers.
The hospital also appealed to the public to cooperate with staff and strictly observe visiting protocols to ensure a safe and orderly healthcare environment. The statement was signed by Juliana Haruna, Head of Public Relations.
