The Founder and Presiding Archbishop of Action Chapel International, Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, has cautioned politicians against taking seemingly gentle nature of Ghanaians for granted.

The respected clergyman pointed out the devastation that could befall the country in the face of a major political disturbance.

It is for this fear that he warned political leaders in the country not to take the citizens for granted. In the sense that, they can do anything and Ghanaians would still remain calm.

The Presidential Candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) for election 2024, John Dramani Mahama, met with the Christian Ecumenical Council when the archbishop expressed his concerns.

Mr. Mahama on his part, called on the clergy to rise and speak against the lack of transparency leading to the upcoming elections.

The Ex-president and his party, NDC have been accusing the Electoral Commission of trying to conspire with the ruling NPP to rig the upcoming election in December. They alleged the appointment of several NPP loyalists to work with the EC giving them the chance to alter election outcome.

"The EC is the arbiter and the EC is the umpire and the EC must not only be neutral, it must seem to be neutral and nonpartisan. Unfortunately, recent events do not give us confidence about this. This is a president who is appointing politically exposed people into positions of trust when they're supposed to be neutral and nonpartisan."

In response, Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams said the clergy would not sit unconcern for the country to be plunged into chaos.

“Thank you for calling us, as the stakeholders to hear your vision for the country, we are very concerned as stakeholders of this great country of ours.
“We were not raised in camps like any other country has suffered looking at Sierra Leone, Liberia, and other African countries where instability and lack of proper management and leadership scattered their citizens and so many of them have to find refuge in Ghana.”

We should not let us the citizens to become refugees in other countries.” He said.
