Private legal practitioner, Justice Srem Sai has voiced dissatisfaction with President Nana Akufo-Addo's response to petitions demanding for the ouster of high-ranking state officials.

Several petitions have been sent to the president over the years in similar cases and he failed to act on them.

However, many people expressed shock when the president quickly acted on a petition that has to do with the removal of the special Prosecutor, Mr. Kissi Agyebeng.

Mr. Sai is one of many prominent voices expressing discontentment on the president’s bias posture.

Former Special Prosecutor Mr. Amidu officially petitioned President Akufo-Addo on April 30, 2024, to remove Mr. Agyebeng from his position as head of the anti-corruption agency.

In the petition, Mr. Amidu alleged Mr. Agyebeng failed to comply with the Right to Information law when he sought to get several information from his office.

Mr. Amidu also accused Mr. Agyebeng of abuse of citizens’ rights through unlaw arrests and detentions.

Many people suspect a planned scheme by the presidency to remove the special prosecutor from office for trying to investigate government appointees embroiled in corruption related cases.

A typical example is the case of Madam Cecilia Dapaah, a formal minister of sanitation who was sacked from office on corruption allegations.
