Students entering senior high and technical schools will officially start school on September 18, 2026, as Ghana continues with its adjusted academic calendar introduced after COVID-19 disruptions.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has assured all BECE graduates that enough preparations have been made to admit students into SHS and technical schools across the country.

According to the GES, every student who qualifies will be given placement into a second-cycle school. The service also dismissed reports claiming about 72,000 students could miss placement, describing the information as false and misleading.

GES stated that there are enough classrooms and facilities to accommodate all qualified students. It added that efforts to end the double-track system will not affect access to education but rather improve teaching and learning.

The service further reaffirmed its commitment to providing quality and equal education opportunities for all Ghanaian children.
