As a clinical healthcare provider, one of the frustrating experiences is when relatives abandon their loved ones on the ward-no visit, they drop call once they recognize it's coming from the hospital. It’s like they ‘dash’ the patient to the ward.
If an abandoned patient expires, strikingly, you may see a number of his/her relatives walk into the ward majestically-the men usually in elegant fugu, demanding for full bills to settle. And after settling such huge bills, some get very agitated if death certificate is not signed on their clock in order to carry the dead away.
Well, there is reported incident of some health workers who had the confidence of making use of the popular saying; “There are many ways to kill a cat.”
There was reported drama at the Nkwatia Government Hospital after a family that was reluctant to settle the bills of their sick relative was allegedly tricked into paying the patient's outstanding medical bills.
Reports suggest that hospital staff informed the family that their relative had passed away while receiving treatment.
Shocked by the news, the family quickly rushed to the hospital and reportedly settled all pending bills before asking to see the body.
Unexpectedly, the relatives were left stunned after being led to the ward, only to find their supposedly dead family member alive, sitting on his hospital bed and reportedly drinking malt.
Can the family take legal action against the hospital?
