The presido complained bitterly about the housing problem for Ghana as he meet Organised Labour for the Jubilee House on March 17. According to him nu, many people dey spend almost all of dema income on rent as the cost of renting dey skyrocket.
He say government, labour unions then private sector for come together to discuss how dem go plan and develop affordable housing options, whether through mortgages or reasonable rent arrangements.
“Housing is a major challenge, and it is consuming a significant portion of people’s income. We need a national housing dialogue to find ways for government, the private sector, and labour to work together to provide affordable housing for workers,” the president talk.
Mahama explained that secof the housing deficit, landlords dey demand for excessive rent advances. The law say rent advances for not past 6 months but landlords no dey hear; dem rather dey charge more, taking advantage of the situation.
He add sey the rent problem dey go on more times secof both tenants then landlords nor wan handle issues for Rent Control Department.
The president dey talk rent issues at the time wey most Ghanaians dey complain bitterly over landlords’ demand for 2 years’ rent advance amidst high increase as well.
Seriously the landlords are killing us oo, hmmmm Cape Coast like this they are renting are very very expensive.Even the rooms doesn’t demands that amount.single rooms 500,600,800cedis per month.
