Those who are quick to ask this question; "If two grown up men decide to choose who they want to have sexual intercourse with; how does that affect anyone?" How do you respond to this question too: If a grown-up man decides to commit suicide-hang himself, blow up his head with gun or cut off his arm, who has he offended and who else would that hurt?
Until recently, attempted suicide was a crime. offenders could be arrested and prosecuted. Such law was repealed in 2023 on the basis that attempted suicide is a mental health issue and persons involved rather need mental health assessment and support.
So, if two males decide to cause physical harm to themselves; tear up exit point of body waste (anus) and later end up on hospital bed or theatre table to get it 'patched', should the nation, with its limited resources for NHIS not be worried about mass practice and promotion of homosexuality?
Again, from anatomical point, the easiest means to spread HIV and other STIs is through anal sex. Such practice among the masses and its promotion; should it not worry the state?
Most of the folks into this gay thing in developed countries have a lot of money to take care of the excesses on personal level. More importantly, Western governments have enough resources to provide specific resources for gay groups.
Example, they provide full support for expensive gender swap surgery and its related therapies over extended period. However, Ghana is currently struggling to even control malaria infection. Do we really have the resources to commit to the peculiar needs of these people?
The Vulnerable and the Effect of Sodomy
In this country, you could hardly see naturally, financially stable guy being sodomized. You could hardly see a rich guy or man visit hospital with anal prolapse or incontinence, secondary to anal sex. It's always the usual group: the vulnerable, poor and desperate young men who are ready to do anything all to gain some form of financial freedom.
Technically, I suspect it's often folks with money, who end up damaging the anal health of vulnerable young men in order to feed their strange, perverted sexual desires.
I for once do not care what two women and two guys decide to do in their bed rooms away from public view. My worry is the demand of LGBTQ community to openly promote, recruit and the public force of acceptance of their choice of lifestyle.
In the US. for instance, members can go to a Christian food shop and demand they bake gay-style cake for them. Once the shop refuses on the bases of whatever principle, they drag the owner and the company to court for discrimination. Such nonsense should never be entertained here in Ghana; at least for now.
Just as Ghana can no longer arrest and charge for suicide attempt and rather refer for therapy, there's no need passing a law that leads to arrest and eventual jail time for gays. Homosexuality is still a pscho-social problem- refer victims to get therapy.
In the final analysis, the new law must seek to ban all persons, groups/organizations and all activities aimed at promoting homosexuality. They can hide in their rooms to do whatever they want; who cares!
