Dr. Bawumia engages in religious prostitution for the sake of power?

It appears the Vice President, and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has been doing the most just to win the thumbprints of the electorates in the upcoming election.

The Vice president continued his campaign tour in the Greater Accra Region on Sunday September 1, making unexpected stops at a number of churches in the Weija Constituency.

His visits included the Jerusalem Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, the Holiness Pentecostal Church in New Gbawe, the Church of Pentecost in Ayigbe Town, Kasoa Area, and the Church of Pentecost's Mandela Assembly in New Weija.

Dr. Bawumia is a known Muslim and practices Islamic faith, however, for the obvious reason to win the heart of Ghanaians for votes, he has been trying hard to present himself the best Christian by day and the best follower of the Islamic faith by night.

Dr. Bawumia in recent time has been visiting many churches where he appears to create the notion that he is more a Christian than even the pope by professing his faith in the most basic belief system of Christianity.

Meanwhile, everyone knows such basic belief of Christians is at variance with Islamic religious orientation.

For example, Dr. Bawumia has been heard in church, declaring that he knows Jesus Christ is the Saviour of the world and He is coming back to judge. Both Muslims and Christians know they do not have in common such religious belief.

Dr. Bawumia also has been seen in mosques urging his fellow Muslims to vote for him because he’s one of them in terms of religious orientation.

Based on the above, it is fair to assume the Vice President is deliberately engaging in religious prostitutions just for the sake of power.

In my perspective, this demonstrates a complete sense of dishonesty and desperation and Muslims and Christians alike must call into question the integrity of the man seeking the mandate to lead them as president.

If one could recall, at the time his boss, President Akufo Addo was seeking power, he also employed similar strategy by visiting churches and kneeling down in camera for prayers.

Nearly eight years down the lane, it’s up to everyone to determine if the president is truly that humble, Godfearing man he portrayed he was, especially looking at his leadership style as president.
