Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe was of the view that Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh was imposed on Dr Bawumia as his running mate for the 2024 presidential election. He was responding to an interview with 3FM on Thursday.
His comments come with respect to news reports that Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has been named as the running mate.
Less than six months before the election, Dr. Bawumia had previously requested extra time to select his running mate while the NPP is alleged trying to force one on him.
On Wednesday, June 26, several news sources in the country reported that Dr Bawumia had presented the name of Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the energy minister and Manhyia South lawmaker to the President as his running mate.
Prior to this, Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe, a leading member of the ruling party had forecast that some NPP members would prevent the party's flagbearer from selecting his own running mate.
“I know for a fact that he can’t pick his own running mate and I made mention of this almost seven months ago and the reason is that simple."
