It is reported that President Akufo-Addo has forwarded a petition seeking to remove Kissi Agyebeng as Special to the Chief Justice.

On April 30, 2024, former Special Prosecutor Martin Amidu sent the appeal to the President, who then forwarded it to Justice Gertrude Torkonoo on May 6, 2024.

The petitioner, Mr. Martin Amidu accused the Mr. Agyebeng of procurement breaches regarding purchase of vehicles for the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) and abuses involving judges and the administration of justice.

Other allegations include violations of citizens’ rights through arrests and detentions, violations of the right to information, and improper appointments of personnel to the office.

As required by Article 146 of the Constitution, it rests on the shoulders of the Chief Justice to determine if there is a prima facie case to establish a committee for Mr Agyebeng's impeachment.

Many are shocked by this new development following the uneasiness between the government and the Office of the Special Prosecutor regarding investigations into alleged corrupt practices of some government officials, notably the case of Madam Cecilia Abena Dapaah.
