Looting of State Assets by Government Officials: Ablakwa Okudzeto Writes.

Mr. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa is a member of Ghana’s Parliament who has been exposing with indisputable evidences, blatant corrupt dealings and state looters within President Akufo Addo-led administration.

According to the respected lawmaker, most of the tightly sealed documents detailing corrupt activities of government officials he uses in his exposé are secretly handed to him by disgruntled members and allies of the government.

On 1st September, 2024, he penned this on his Facebook wall:

“The battle against State Capture is getting more and more complicated by the day but we remain undaunted.

As I disclosed on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana last Friday, the first on the list of properties the Judicial Service of Ghana has gone to court on 24th February, 2024 to reclaim is a building now occupied by Gabby Otchere-Darko’s Asaase Broadcasting Company Limited.

The Asaase Radio building in issue is: Number 7, 5th Circular Road, located in Cantonments.

According to court documents, the Judicial Service of Ghana insists that the sale of Number 7, 5th Circular Road in Cantonments which was last occupied by Justice F. G. Korbie is unconstitutional and unlawful.

Diligent parliamentary oversight reveals that Number 7, 5th Circular Road located in Cantonments was bought by Lilly Homes Limited on 4th March, 2020.

Lilly Homes Limited is a company with strong familial ties with a prominent politically exposed director of Asaase Broadcasting Company Limited.

Lilly Homes and Asaase Radio have an indisputable partnership.

Lilly Homes purchased the controversial property from Mr. Fosuaba Akwasi Banahene who bought the bungalow on 18th July, 2006 from President Kufuor. At the time, Mr. Fosuaba Akwasi Banahene was President Kufuor’s appointed chairman of the GETFund board.

I continue to make interesting findings on the other listed bungalows by the Judicial Service of Ghana which I shall be publishing in due course.

This latest revelation, once again, exposes the false claims by Lands Minister, Samuel Abu Jinapor that President Mahama sold all the bungalows the Judicial Service is now fighting in court.

Not surprising, credible and irrefutable reports indicate that the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government has requested for a negotiated resolution with the Chief Justice and the Judicial Service of Ghana. We shall be monitoring keenly and studying the terms of the resolution.

I must emphasize that it would be in the interest of transparency and accountability for the final amicable resolution between the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration and the Chief Justice to be published.

I am, however, pleased that many more Ghanaians across different political backgrounds are openly expressing support for our Private Member’s Bill seeking to prohibit politicians, government officials, public officials and other politically exposed persons

from purchasing state assets.

Some Ghanaians, such as the NPP’s Nana Akomea are now even demanding a total ban on state assets following my recent expose on a fresh list of politically exposed persons who bought prime Cantonments state lands without following due process and at ridiculously low values.

Others have also called for a provision which should make it impossible for public lands to be resold or gifted, no matter the circumstances.

We welcome and deeply appreciate all useful contributions to help improve the Protection of State Assets Bill, 2024.

Together, we shall defeat State Capture.

For God and Country."
